Dr. Gardner grew up on a cattle ranch in Grandview, Texas, a small farming community on Interstate 35 just south of Ft. Worth. On completing a B.S. in Animal Science from Texas A&M in 1987, he moved 600 miles away from family, friends, and everything he knew to pursue his dream of becoming a veterinarian. In May 1992, he graduated from Mississippi State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in the 12th graduating class from this new school! During his tenure there, he was elected class president three years in a row.
Dr. Gardner served as an associate in a small animal/dairy/beef practice for two years post-graduation and prior to leasing Ponder Large Animal Hospital where he gained a wealth of equine knowledge and experience. He spent the next 18 years as Owner/CEO of Aurora Animal Hospital, Inc., treating small animals/equine/beef cattle. After the sale of his practice, Dr. Gardner wanted to join a practice where he would feel at home and still enjoy the variety of mixed animal practice, yet be allowed the flexibility to expand on his areas of interests including equine assisted reproductive technology, artificial insemination, and all facets of equine reproduction. He then opened Gardner Equine Veterinary Services in Burleson, Texas which is an ambulatory mobile equine veterinary practice with a primary focus in reproductive health & well-being of horses.
